Work To Resume Wednesday As LASU Unions End Strike

Different unions making up of the Joint Action Committee, Lagos State University (LASU) has called off the industrial strike declared on August 2nd, 2025.

The Senate of the institution at its meeting held on Monday, 11th August, 2025, also approved the resumption of academic and social activities in the University with effect from Wednesday, 13th August, 2025.

According to a statement on Monday by LASU’s Deputy Registrar/Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, the decision followed a meeting with the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, on Thursday, 7th August, 2025.

“All academic and social activities should resume across the University on Wednesday, 13th August 2025.
“Students should move into their hostels on all University campuses in Ojo, Ikeja and Epe from Wednesday, 13th August 2025.

“The 2024/2025 Second Semester Examinations, previously suspended, should commence on Monday, 18th August 2025,” the statement read.

It also advised students to return promptly and prepare adequately for the examinations.

It will be recalled that Senate, at its virtual meeting held on Saturday, 2nd August 2025, suspended all academic and social activities in the institution following the declaration of industrial action by the Joint Action Committee of Staff Unions on Thursday, 31st July 2025.
