The Nigerian Youths Agricultural Forums has commended the Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation, Mr Yazid Umar Shehu Danfulani, describing his leadership as bold and timely.

The group said Danfulani’s emergence signals a new phase for agricultural insurance and renewed confidence for farmers nationwide.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its Secretary, Yuhana Moses, the forum expressed confidence in Danfulani’s capacity to reposition NAIC as a key driver of agricultural growth, risk management and food security.

It said the appointment aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to NYAF, the decision reflects the Federal Government’s resolve to place competence, innovation and youthful energy at the centre of agricultural reforms.

The forum noted that agriculture remains the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, adding that effective insurance is crucial in shielding farmers and investors from climate shocks, insecurity and market volatility.

“From our engagements and observations, Mr Yazid Umar Shehu Danfulani has demonstrated clarity of purpose and deep understanding of the agricultural sector,” the statement said.

NYAF stressed that poor risk protection has discouraged many young Nigerians from farming, arguing that a responsive NAIC would restore confidence and expand youth participation.

It praised Danfulani’s emphasis on transparency, stakeholder engagement and innovation, describing them as essential to modernising NAIC in line with global best practices.

The group also lauded the Tinubu administration for prioritising agriculture for diversification, job creation and poverty reduction.

It pledged its support for NAIC, expressing readiness to collaborate on youth-focused programmes and sensitisation campaigns to deepen insurance penetration.

NYAF urged stakeholders to back the new NAIC leadership, saying collective effort remains vital to achieving food security and sustainable development.
