The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has attributed the gradual decrease in available generation into the grid to gas constraints faced by thermal generating companies. TCN’s general manager of public affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, highlighted this issue in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday.

In her statement, Mrs. Mbah explained, “Consequent upon the current load on the grid, load distributed to the distribution load centers have also reduced, as TCN can only transmit what is generated.”

She emphasised that TCN is actively collaborating with stakeholders in the power sector to maintain the grid’s integrity despite the challenges posed by low power generation.

Mrs. Mbah further assured the public, stating, “TCN is committed to ensuring a gradual increase in electricity supply to load centers as gas improves to power available thermal plants,” she requested understanding from consumers, urging them to bear with TCN as it works with stakeholders to enhance the supply through distribution companies, ultimately improving electricity services nationwide.
