Producing Specialty Fats and Oils, Presco Plc has called for gender equality and a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.
Speaking at the 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD) event held within the company’s premises in Edo State, the managing director, Presco Pls, Reji George, congratulated the Gender Committee and all female employees for their dedication to the company’s growth and development over the years.
He disclosed that the company had engaged more female truck drivers. He explained that the company would continue to strive for equality, pointing out that as a society, “We need to look back as an organisation, community, and society and think of how to support Gender Equality at all levels. “
Coordinator of the Gender Committee, Fatima Emeri, also used the opportunity to commend the company’s management for providing a platform for women and urge female staff to take advantage of the opportunity.
Mrs Emeri commended Presco Plc’s management for creating a level playing field for staff to grow and contribute to the company’s development.
Assistant human resources manager (HRM) Leonard Ohenmwen, who spoke at the event theme: “Accelerate Action,” said he was proud to highlight the various initiatives that Presco Plc has undertaken to promote women’s empowerment and inclusion within our organisation.
“At Presco Plc, we believe that women play a vital role in driving our business forward, and we have taken deliberate steps to create an environment that fosters their growth and development. One of our most notable initiatives is training female tractor operators. We recognised that this was an area where women were not represented, and we took action to address this gap.
“Today, we have about 14 female tractor operators operating tractors across our estates, and we are proud of their achievements.
“Besides this initiative, we have always implemented various programs to promote women’s leadership and career development. These include training and development initiatives and creating opportunities for women to take on organisational leadership roles.”
The commissioning ceremony drew LG representatives, local leaders, and community members. At the ceremony, the head of corporate marketing at LG Electronics, Mr. Paul Mba, expressed the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and community empowerment. He said, “Water is a basic necessity. At LG, we are dedicated to leveraging technology to enhance lives. By integrating solar power into this project, we guarantee that the community will enjoy long-term access to clean Water without the burden of high energy costs.”
Local leaders and residents took the Opportunity to express gratitude for LG’s impactful contribution. Alhaji Kabir Tijjani Hashim, Turakin Kano, District Head Kawaji Saunar, remarked, “This project is a lifeline for our community. Before, we faced daily struggles to access clean Water. Thanks to LG, we have a sustainable solution at our doorstep.”
Alhaji Umar Adamu from the Kawaji Area added, “This borehole will transform our lives. We no longer have to risk our health by relying on distant water sources. Clean Water is essential for our families, and we are deeply thankful for this support.”
Chairman of Nassarawa local government, Hon. Tusuf Imam, praised the collaborative efforts that made this project possible, stating, “This is a shining example of how private sector involvement can lead to meaningful change. We encourage more organisations to invest in community development like LG has done today.”
