LAPO Microfinance Bank (MFB) has been named Microfinance Bank of the Year for the 12th consecutive time at the 2025 BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.
In a statement on Sunday, the bank’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Oluremi Akande, said the recognition reaffirms LAPO’s consistency, resilience, and innovation in driving financial inclusion across Nigeria.
“Winning this award for the 12th consecutive time reflects our unwavering commitment to empowering low-income households and supporting underserved communities,” Akande said.
He noted that the award highlights LAPO’s impact in extending superior financial services to the grassroots and supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide.
LAPO MFB currently operates over 500 branches across 34 states and the FCT, with cumulative loan disbursements exceeding N1.7 trillion. The bank has also created over 6,000 jobs for Nigerian youths and awarded more than 5,000 scholarships, alongside various social and environmental impact initiatives.
“We dedicate this award to our loyal customers and dedicated staff who continue to make our vision of financial empowerment a reality,” Akande added.
