A member of the All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State, Muhammad Kabir Ibrahim, has accused Senator Abdulaziz Yari of plotting to hijack the party’s structure and destabilise its leadership ahead of 2027.

Kabir, a card-carrying member of the APC,in a statement on Tuesday alleged that the former Zamfara State governor is scheming to influence the newly elected national chairman, Prof. Nentawe, as part of a calculated move to emerge as running mate to President Bola Tinubu in the next general election.

He described the alleged ambition to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2027 as “dangerous, reckless and deeply disrespectful” to the party and its leadership.

According to him, Yari is prepared to compromise party unity and create internal crisis in pursuit of personal political gain.

Kabir further alleged that the senator was buying the loyalty of delegates and key party officials in a bid to consolidate control of the APC structure for his alleged vice-presidential ambition.

He warned that such actions pose a direct threat to the stability and cohesion of the ruling party.

The Bauchi APC member also raised concerns that should Yari fail in his alleged plot, he might defect to the African Democratic Congress, taking along structures he has allegedly manipulated within the APC.

He cautioned that such a move could weaken the party nationally and trigger avoidable divisions.

Kabir called on President Bola Tinubu and the national leadership of the APC to remain vigilant, alleging that huge sums of money were being deployed to secure loyalty for selfish interests.

He maintained that no individual, regardless of wealth or influence, should be allowed to override party rules or undermine internal democracy.

“The unity, credibility and future of the APC are bigger than the ambition of any single politician,” he stated.

Efforts to reach Yari for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
