LG Unveils Dual Inverter Dehumidifier For Nigerian Homes, Businesses

LG Electronics has launched its Smart Dehumidifier nationwide in Nigeria, introducing a household appliance designed to address rising humidity levels, particularly during the rainy season and in urban areas.

The company said excess moisture in indoor environments continues to affect comfort and air quality, contributing to mould growth, damage to household interiors, and health-related concerns.

At the launch in Abuja on Wednesday, the Head of Corporate Marketing, LG Electronics, Mr Paul Mba, said the appliance is designed to extract significant amounts of moisture from indoor air.

“Our dehumidifier removes up to 30 litres of moisture daily, equivalent to extracting water from over a hundred standard bottles. This makes it suitable for addressing humidity challenges in many Nigerian cities. The product is designed to function in both urban and residential environments across the country,” he said.

Mba explained that the appliance is powered by LG’s Dual Inverter Compressor technology, which adjusts operation based on real-time humidity levels. According to him, this helps regulate moisture while reducing energy consumption.

The dehumidifier also comes with a HEPA H13 Safe Plus Filter, designed to capture dust, allergens, and airborne bacteria commonly found in damp indoor environments.

Assistant Product Manager, Eco-solutions, Ms Yeeun Kim, said many households are affected by humidity without being fully aware of its long-term effects.

“Many Nigerians experience excessive humidity without fully understanding its impact on health and household items. With this Smart Dehumidifier, LG provides an approach to improve indoor comfort, protect homes, and support energy efficiency tailored to the Nigerian climate,” she said.

Product Specialist Trainer Mr Gbenga Ogunbayo said the appliance operates at about 33 decibels, making it suitable for bedrooms, offices, and living spaces.

He noted that the two models introduced are the 34L (DD20GMWE1) and 28L (MD16GQWE0), both equipped with Dual Inverter Compressor technology that adjusts dehumidification intensity according to humidity levels to manage energy use.

Ogunbayo added that the device supports LG ThinQ™ technology, allowing users to monitor and control humidity levels remotely through smartphones. He also said the design includes waist-level handles, 360-degree caster wheels for movement, and transparent water tanks for monitoring water levels. Additional accessories include a Shoe Dry Y-hose and Closet Dry T-hose for targeted drying in enclosed spaces such as wardrobes and shoe racks.

On distribution, Fouani Nigeria Ltd, Abuja Branch Manager, Mr Moustafa Kharis, said the product is available across the company’s nationwide showrooms.

“We are seeing growing demand for products that support indoor comfort. The LG Smart Dehumidifier is now available at Fouani showrooms and is expected to serve homes, offices, hospitality, and commercial spaces that require humidity control. Customers can access demonstrations, guidance, and after-sales support through our retail network,” he said.

LG said the launch is part of its expansion in Nigeria’s smart home and wellness product segment, focusing on solutions for environmental conditions that affect indoor living spaces.
