Maltina, a malt drink brand produced by Nigerian Breweries Plc, has unveiled a new visual identity to mark its 50th anniversary, retaining its existing taste and nutritional composition.
The refreshed packaging, unveiled on October 12, 2026, features updated designs across the brand’s glass bottles, cans and PET bottles, with a stronger orange colour, enhanced gold elements and a more prominent barley symbol.
Other features include a gold crown cork, brighter sunrays, a bolder calcium symbol and the inscription “Since 1976” to highlight the brand’s five-decade history.
The company said the redesign was aimed at giving the brand a contemporary appearance while preserving the taste consumers have known for years.
Maltina is fortified with calcium, with the company stating that a 33cl bottle provides the equivalent of half a glass of milk. The brand is also endorsed by the Nutrition Society of Nigeria as a non-alcoholic drink rich in Vitamin A.
Speaking on the refreshed identity, Marketing Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Sarah Agha, said the redesign reflected the brand’s commitment to remaining relevant to consumers while maintaining its established identity.
“For 50 years, Maltina has grown alongside generations of Nigerians. This refreshed identity is an evolution of a much-loved brand, designed to keep Maltina fresh, relevant and connected to today’s consumers while preserving the nourishing taste they know and trust,” she said.
Agha said the company would also engage consumers through its “What’s Your Word?” campaign, which invites Nigerians to share their first impressions of the new packaging in one word.
She said the initiative was designed to encourage consumers to participate in shaping the next phase of the brand’s development.
The company said the new packaging would be introduced across stores, restaurants, bars and markets, alongside a nationwide media campaign, trade launches and consumer engagement activities.
The rollout is expected to increase public awareness of the refreshed identity as the brand celebrates its 50th anniversary.
