The Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) has announced that its 2025 Annual Training Summit will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference Hall in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
This year’s summit, themed: “AI Automotive Reporting: Smart Cars, Smart Stories,” will focus on how journalists can adapt to the rapidly evolving world of automotive technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
The one-day event enjoys sponsorship from Jetour Automobiles and Tech365, a collaboration that underscores NAJA’s drive to strengthen digital literacy and future-ready reporting among Nigeria’s motoring correspondents.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Rasheed Bisiriyu, explained that the 2025 edition will explore the growing intersection between smart mobility and media innovation. “We want journalists to understand the technologies shaping tomorrow’s vehicles and how to translate those complex ideas into accurate and engaging stories,” he said.
Bisiriyu added that participants will learn from experts drawn from both the auto and tech industries. Leading the speaker lineup is Mr. Wale Olajumoke, Head of Training at Tech365, an edtech company known for its programs in AI, cloud computing, data analytics, and cybersecurity. Also billed to speak is veteran journalist Mr. Henry Ojelu of Vanguard Newspapers, who will share insights on using AI tools to enhance reporting and storytelling in the automotive sector.
According to Bisiriyu, the training will offer hands-on exposure to emerging trends such as autonomous driving, connected vehicles, and data-driven reporting. “Our goal is to build capacity for journalists to report on these innovations with depth, clarity, and creativity,” he said.
NAJA chairman, Mr. Theodore Opara, described the initiative as both “timely and forward-looking,” noting that artificial intelligence has become integral to both newsroom operations and vehicle technology. “The auto industry is transforming fast, and journalists must evolve alongside it,” he said. “This summit will empower auto reporters to understand smart mobility trends, fact-check digital data, and use AI tools to deliver richer stories.”
Opara also emphasized that AI should be viewed as a tool for empowerment rather than disruption. “Being able to interpret autonomous vehicle data, analyze smart car reports, and understand mobility platforms will give Nigerian journalists a global advantage,” he added.
The 2025 Training Summit is part of NAJA’s flagship professional development series, designed to enhance reporting standards, promote collaboration with industry stakeholders, and contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s automotive ecosystem.
With the combined support of Jetour Automobiles and Tech365, this year’s edition aims not just to inform but to redefine the future of automotive journalism—helping reporters tell smarter stories about smarter cars.
