The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been awarded for its exceptional performance in revenue generation, surpassing N2 trillion in 2024. The accolades were presented at the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Award Night in Abuja.
The command was honored with awards for Revenue Collection and Excellence, while Comptroller Babatunde Olomu was named ‘Best Controller of the Year’ for his leadership. The recognition highlights Apapa’s groundbreaking contributions to revenue collection, anti-smuggling efforts, and trade facilitation at Nigeria’s busiest port.
Under Comptroller Olomu’s leadership, the command achieved unprecedented revenue collection, despite a challenging trading environment. As of November 20, 2024, Apapa had generated over N2 trillion in revenue, a historic milestone for the command. Olomu’s focus on reducing revenue leakages and improving operational efficiency has been credited for this success.
Speaking after receiving the awards, Comptroller Olomu dedicated the recognition to all officers and staff of the command, attributing the achievement to teamwork and dedication. He emphasized that the awards are a call to continue improving performance and uphold the command’s high standards.
