The Chartered Institute of Educational Practitioners, United Kingdom (CIEPUK), in collaboration with Soochow University, China, is set to launch the Global Southern Studies/Research Centre (GSSRC) at Paul University, Awka, on October 17.

The centre will focus on advancing academic collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development across the Global South. It is designed to serve as a hub for research, knowledge exchange, and international partnerships — strengthening Nigeria’s position in global academic cooperation.

CIEPUK’s African regional office, based at Paul University, will host the new research hub. Key focus areas include technology, climate change, agriculture, health sciences, social development, and cultural exchange.

Officials from the partner institutions described the initiative as a milestone in academic diplomacy and a model for South-South cooperation. The Consular Representative of China in Nigeria is expected to attend the launch.

Prof. Marcel Ezenwoye, CIEPUK Global President and Director of the Pre-degree Programme at Paul University, said the centre would promote cross-border collaboration, innovative research, and cultural understanding through exchange programmes.
