The Capital Market Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CAMCAN) is set to host its 2024 annual workshop aimed at addressing critical challenges facing Nigeria’s capital market and broader economy. The event, themed ‘Banks’ Recapitalisation: Bridging the Gap Between Investors and Issuers in the Nigerian Capital Market’, will be held on December 7-8, 2024, in Lagos.
CAMCAN’s statement emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to strengthen Nigeria’s financial ecosystem amidst ongoing economic difficulties. The workshop aims to bridge the understanding gap between investors and issuers, crucial for sustainable capital market growth as Nigerian banks face regulatory pressures and market challenges.
Recapitalisation has emerged as a pressing issue, with banks needing to bolster their capital to meet new Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) requirements and support economic growth. The workshop will feature regulators, financial experts, bank executives, and key policy stakeholders. Special Guest of Honour Dr. Emomotimi Agama, Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), will join Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, and Guest Speaker Mr. Johnson Chukwu, CEO of Cowry Asset Management.
