The Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) has announced its Annual Training and Capacity Building Workshop, scheduled for Thursday, October 31, 2024, in Lagos.
The workshop, which will take place at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) building in Ikeja, will center around the theme: “CNG/LPG/EV Initiative: Challenges, Sustainability, Opportunities, and Alternatives to Fossil Fuels in Nigeria.”
Prominent organizations in the automotive industry have expressed interest in participating and partnering with NAJA for this event. Among them are the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mikano Motors Nigeria Limited, CFAO Mobility, Jet Systems Automobiles, Fixit45 Limited, Pi-CNG, Limacs Integrated Ventures, and several others.
In a statement, Chairman of the 2024 Annual Training and Capacity Building Workshop Adrian Egonu, highlighted the significant strides NAJA has made in enhancing its members’ industry knowledge through past training programmes.
Egonu emphasized that this year’s theme was carefully chosen, reflecting the Federal Government’s strong focus over the past 16 months on promoting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), and Electric Vehicles (EV), in line with global best practices for cleaner automotive fuels.
He assured that the 2024 exercise would further deepen the knowledge and skills of journalists, while commending the event’s sponsors for their continued partnership. According to Egonu, the workshop will also provide industry investors and sponsors with a platform to showcase their products and expand their reach.
NAJA Chairman, Mike Ochonma, also praised the sponsors and partners for their collaboration with NAJA. He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to upholding its role as the Fourth Estate of the Realm,” dedicated to delivering unbiased information, education, and shaping public opinion.
Ochonma added that the government’s push for a greener environment requires thorough discussion among key industry players. He noted, “Over the years, journalists covering the automotive industry under the aegis of NAJA in Nigeria have played an active role in the sector’s development. This year’s theme is timely and relevant, especially in light of the Federal Government’s commitment to the CNG initiative.”
