The federal government is finalising a new Nigerian Industrial Policy aimed at boosting local manufacturing, curbing raw material exports, and increasing the sector’s contribution to GDP.
Minister of state for industry, John Owan Enoh, announced the initiative during the 2025 Nigerian Manufacturing & Equipment Expo in Lagos. He said the policy aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and targets key sectors including textiles, automotive, agro-processing, and pharmaceuticals.
“We must produce, we must produce, and we must produce,” Enoh said, stressing the urgency of industrial revival.
The policy is being co-developed with stakeholders such as the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), which has endorsed the plan.
MAN director-general, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, called for a regulatory environment that supports, rather than stifles, industrial scale and competitiveness.
The policy is expected to drive job creation, innovation, and export diversification while positioning Nigeria to compete in global manufacturing.
