BeginIT, a social educational project spearheaded by inDrive, has announced the successful completion of its program for the second year running in Nigeria. The BeginIT program is an initiative to provide future career guidance for children from orphanages, boarding schools, and rural schools with Information Technology (IT) skills.

In the last two years, 61 children drawn from rural schools in Nigeria have benefited from the innovative education program through access to IT technologies and the opportunity to display their new skills on different projects. While 31 children graduated from the program in 2021, a total number of 30 children completed the program in 2022. During the two years, the project held several workshops and other events to instill problem-solving skills and prepare children from orphanages, boarding schools, and rural schools.

Speaking on the program, social project manager, BeginIT, Anna Soldatova, explained that with the enrollment of 45 students this year, it is becoming increasingly clear that students would continue to benefit from the cutting-edge technology and education provided by BeginIT.

‘We strongly believe that every child should have a chance to realise their potential regardless of their social circumstances. We feel they need to be properly educated in time to ensure they can compete in the constantly and rapidly developing world. This is why we have devised an initiative to enable them to reach their potential,” said Soldatova.

BeginIT was launched in Nigeria in 2021 to ignite children’s curiosity in intellectual production by providing them with an early advantage for personal development, influencing their career paths, and supporting their initial steps in the IT sector. To achieve this objective, BeginIT works with STEMCafe, local government, and various NGOs in Nigeria.

BeginIT operates in 15 countries, including Nigeria, and has trained 821 children globally.
