Kano,Abba Yusuf

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, says the state is fast emerging as the commercial capital of the Sahel region, driven by reforms, infrastructural upgrades, and renewed investor confidence.

Speaking at the launch of two books in Abuja, Governor Yusuf—represented by his Special Adviser on State Affairs, Alhaji Usman Bala—said Kano is leveraging its historic trading legacy while embracing modern growth strategies to attract investment and enhance competitiveness.

He noted that the administration has prioritised key areas such as security, infrastructure, and power supply, creating a stable foundation for business operations. Efforts to digitise the state’s revenue system and block financial leakages, he added, have further strengthened fiscal discipline and investor trust.

The governor highlighted the critical role of traditional and religious leaders in sustaining peace and community stability—key ingredients for economic expansion. He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting small businesses and promoting transparent governance to drive sustainable development.

In a gesture to encourage learning and leadership, Yusuf purchased 200 copies of the two books for ₦20 million, describing education and knowledge exchange as vital tools for economic transformation.
