A Nigerian interior project designer, Louie Duke, has said he is gaining increased recognition for shaping corporate, residential, institutional and commercial spaces through a design philosophy centred on functionality, refinement and spatial storytelling.

In a statement on Thursday, Louie Duke said his approach emphasises balance, controlled palettes, material selection, lighting and detailing to create spaces that support both functionality and emotional connection. According to him, corporate environments such as boardrooms, reception areas and executive offices play strategic roles in shaping perceptions, confidence and trust.

His design philosophy, described as restrained and neo-classical, prioritises simplicity and elegance over excessive ornamentation, with a focus on creating environments that encourage comfort, productivity and clarity.

According to Davos Hussein, the designer’s work spans sectors including hospitality, healthcare, education, commercial real estate and private residences, while maintaining a consistent style across different project types.

“With more than 35 years of experience spanning brands including Lace 3, Interiors In High Places, Lush Luxury Finishes and now LOUIE DUKE Projects, his work has featured across offices, private residences, healthcare facilities and educational institutions in Nigeria,” Hussein said.

His residential projects include private homes in Ikoyi and Parkview, Lagos; residences within 1004 Estate in Victoria Island; Lakowe Golf Resort residences; Pearl Towers Apartment in Eko Atlantic; and the Africa Re managing director’s residence in Victoria Island.

Institutional and public projects associated with the designer include the University of Lagos Sickle Cell Ward, the LUTH Dental Library, the LASU Majekodunmi Lecture Theatre, and the Oval Lounge Restaurant in Lagos, among others.

Industry observers noted that contemporary interior design is increasingly moving beyond aesthetics to reflect organisational identity, culture and brand positioning, particularly within corporate environments.
