MANEG Unveils 2026/2027 Roadmap To Boost Nigeria’s Export Competitiveness

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Export Promotion Group (MANEG) has unveiled its 2026/2027 strategic roadmap aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s export competitiveness, expanding manufacturing exports and increasing the presence of locally made products in African and global markets.
The roadmap focuses on four priorities: strengthening stakeholder engagement, increasing awareness and utilisation of export incentives, improving access to export finance, and building export capacity among manufacturers.
Speaking at the unveiling, MANEG Chairman, Mrs. Ruth Owojaiye, said Nigeria has the resources, industrial capacity and entrepreneurial potential to become a leading manufacturing hub in Africa but requires sustained efforts to improve export readiness and competitiveness.
Owojaiye said manufacturers need improved access to supportive policies, incentives, financing, technical expertise and strategic partnerships to compete more effectively in international markets.

She said MANEG would strengthen collaboration with government institutions, financial organisations, regional trade bodies and development partners to improve Nigeria’s export ecosystem and address challenges facing exporters.

According to the group, low awareness and utilisation of export incentives remain significant constraints, particularly for small and medium-sized manufacturers. It said it plans to expand industry engagement, knowledge-sharing programmes and practical guidance to help businesses access available government-backed export support.

MANEG also identified limited access to finance as a major obstacle to export expansion, noting that manufacturers require investment to upgrade technology, increase production capacity, obtain international certifications, improve packaging, strengthen logistics and develop new markets.

The group said it would prioritise capacity-building initiatives to help manufacturers meet international quality standards, comply with export requirements and improve operational processes needed to compete in global markets.

MANEG noted that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) provides Nigerian manufacturers with access to a market of more than one billion people but said improved competitiveness and product quality would be essential to fully benefit from the agreement.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting manufacturers as Nigeria pursues economic diversification through increased non-oil exports, adding that collaboration among government, development partners and the private sector would be critical to building a more competitive, export-oriented manufacturing sector.
