Former president of Mauritius, Her Excellency Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, has called on African business leaders to prioritize strategic leadership and entrepreneurial innovation as key drivers of sustainable economic growth across the continent.

Speaking at the LIMBSimple Strategy Growth Convention held in Victoria Island, Lagos, Gurib-Fakim emphasised the need for visionary leadership in tackling Africa’s economic challenges.

“Africa’s potential for entrepreneurial excellence is unmatched. However, achieving sustainable growth requires a deliberate focus on innovation, strategic planning, and collaboration across sectors,” she stated.

Highlighting Africa’s untapped talent, she remarked, “With 12 million young people entering the job market annually but only 2 million securing jobs, entrepreneurship in technology, renewable energy, and agribusiness offers unparalleled opportunities to transform Africa’s economic landscape.”

She also pointed to Africa’s global advantages in fintech, health tech, and green energy, asserting that, ‘the solutions to our challenges lie in measurable outcomes, not their origins. Africa can lead globally if we focus on our strengths.’

It’s not just about learning but about taking bold steps to transform what you’ve learned into measurable outcomes,” he said.

Solesi emphasised execution and accountability, encouraging participants to create clear plans aligned with the strategies discussed. “Growth doesn’t happen overnight, but it starts with commitment and consistent effort. Leverage the network you’ve built here, stay focused on your goals, and seek support when needed,” he added, reaffirming LIMBSimple’s dedication to supporting entrepreneurs and business leaders.

The two-day event featured an impressive lineup of influential speakers, including Dr. Oluwatosin Oladunjoye, Group Managing Director of Zylus Group International; Wale Olajubu, CEO of Faysal Acquiring and Digital Payment; Ugochukwu Omeogu, Chief Visionary Leader of Merignos Consulting; and Dr. Cosmas Maduka, President/CEO of Coscharis Group.

Other notable speakers included Her Excellency Onari Duke, wife of the former Governor of Cross River State; Dr. Niyi Adesanya, CEO of Fifth Gear Plus; and Prahlad Gangadharan, CEO of Bhojson Group.

The convention offered masterclasses, networking opportunities, and strategic discussions, empowering African entrepreneurs and business leaders with the tools and insights needed to drive sustainable growth.
