Following a series of impactful capacity-building programs, the beneficiaries have urged the NCDMB and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources to institutionalize the Project 100 initiative as a sectoral working group, which would enhance its impact and ensure long-term sustainability within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Launched in 2019 with an initial cohort of 60 companies and expanded in 2021 to include 40 additional firms, Project 100 remains a vital component of NCDMB’s mission to deepen local content, empower entrepreneurs, and catalyze innovation in Nigeria’s energy sector. The initiative focuses on identifying, mentoring, and scaling high-performing indigenous companies, transforming them into key players in the national economy.
A recent three-day training session was pivotal in advancing this mission, equipping participants with the tools to forge strategic alliances and partnerships, boost value addition, and scale operations sustainably. The session also highlighted successful cross-border collaborations, particularly with Ghanaian companies, underscoring the potential for synergies across West Africa.
The second phase of the training focused on fostering business innovation, providing participants with proven strategies to enhance their operations and ensure long-term contributions to Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain.
Prominent beneficiaries, including Mr. Bode Ogundipe, CEO of SPROVAB Nigeria Ltd, and Engr. Uchenna Duaka, managing director of Hull Inspection Services Ltd, praised the NCDMB for its unwavering support and commitment to empowering indigenous companies. They expressed the need for Project 100 to evolve into a sectoral working group that would further institutionalize its objectives and shape policies that support transnational enablement for Nigerian businesses.
Ogundipe emphasized that Project 100 is not just about empowering companies but also creating a platform for policy innovation that advances Nigeria’s local content agenda and strengthens the country’s position in the global oil and gas industry.
Since its inception, Project 100 has been a catalyst for Nigeria’s industrial growth, positioning the NCDMB as a leader in promoting local content and sustainable economic development within Nigeria and the wider African oil and gas sector.
