The Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA) has resumed petroleum product deliveries to telecom operators, including IHS Towers, following a temporary halt over debts worth billions of naira.
National president Bennett Okorie, announced in Abuja that the decision came after interventions from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), which pledged to resolve the dispute from Monday.
“In the interest of energy security and Nigerians, we have resolved to resume our services immediately at the affected depots,” Okorie said, giving a seven-day window for repayment before services are withdrawn again.
The debt dispute had triggered warnings from the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) that over 16,000 telecom base stations risked shutdown, potentially disrupting mobile, banking, and emergency services nationwide.
ALTON chairman Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, said the blockage of diesel loading depots in Kaduna, Lagos, and Delta stemmed from allegations by IHS of diesel misappropriation against two NOGASA member companies. The matter is under investigation.
