Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, alongside three other key legislations, describing them as critical to accelerating the state’s development agenda.
The signing ceremony, held on Monday at the Light House in Awka, followed the upward revision of the budget from N757 billion to N766 billion after deliberations by the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Soludo said the 2026 budget was structured to stimulate economic growth, fast-track infrastructure delivery and strengthen social welfare programmes across the state, reflecting his administration’s focus on strategic and people-oriented spending.
According to the governor, the executive accepted the adjustments made by lawmakers after extensive reviews, noting that the revised budget now sets the tone for implementation in the new fiscal year.
In addition to the appropriation law, Soludo also assented to three other bills: the Anambra State Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery (Amendment No. 3) Law, 2025; the Anambra State Taxes, Levies and Presumptive Tax (Approved List for Collection) Law, 2025; and the Anambra State Correctional Service Law, 2025.
He said the new laws reinforced the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and inclusive governance, while creating an enabling environment for effective service delivery and sustainable growth.
Soludo commended the Anambra State House of Assembly for its cooperation and diligence, noting that the strong executive–legislative partnership remained vital to driving the state’s economic and social transformation.
