The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported vandalism on Tower T347 along the Gombe–Damaturu 330kV transmission line, resulting in partial disruption of bulk power supply to Maiduguri and Damaturu.

The incident occurred on Friday and was discovered during a routine inspection, which revealed that the tower’s legs had been cut, causing it to tilt.

Despite the setback, TCN said supply to affected communities is being sustained through the Maiduguri Emergency Power Plant, while Damaturu and surrounding areas are temporarily supported via the Potiskum Substation.

Engineers are currently on-site replacing the damaged tower to restore full transmission. The company condemned the sabotage and urged the public to safeguard critical infrastructure and report suspicious activity to authorities.
