The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that it will carry out scheduled maintenance at its New Haven Transmission Substation in Enugu State from October 22 to 31.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, said the preventive maintenance and reinforcement exercise on the New Haven 132/33KV substation would take place daily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
She explained that the project aimed to upgrade the station’s capacity and improve the reliability and quality of bulk power supply to Enugu and its environs.
Mbah clarified that the exercise would not amount to a total power shutdown in Enugu, as only one 33kV feeder would be affected per day on a rotational basis.
“Given that Enugu is supplied by 24 feeders, this arrangement ensures that most parts of the state will continue to receive power supply while the maintenance is ongoing,” she said.
She noted that the exercise would require the temporary isolation of specific feeders to ensure the safety of technical crews and equipment.
According to the schedule, the affected feeders include Kingsway Line 2 (Oct. 22), Emene Line 1 (Oct. 23), Thinkers Corner (Oct. 24), Transekulu (Oct. 25), Kingsway Line 1 (Oct. 26), Emene Line 2 (Oct. 28), Ugwogo (Oct. 29), and Itukuozalla (Oct. 31).
Mbah assured consumers that power interruption would only occur on the specific day their feeder is isolated, while thanking residents for their understanding and cooperation.
She added that the project was part of TCN’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the national grid and deliver a more efficient and reliable power transmission network.
