President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Managing Director of Nigeria LNG Limited, on his election as Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) at the Forum’s 27th Ministerial Meeting in Doha, Qatar.

He also applauded the emergence of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, as President of the 2026 GECF Ministerial Meeting.

In a statement by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President said the dual recognition reaffirms Nigeria’s leadership in global gas diplomacy.

Tinubu expressed confidence that both officials will represent the nation with distinction while strengthening cooperation, stability, and inclusivity within the global gas market.

He emphasised that natural gas remains central to Nigeria’s industrial growth, energy security and economic transformation under the Renewed Hope Agenda, assuring that the country will continue to champion equitable energy access and a cleaner energy future.
