Galaxy Backbone Gets Implementation, Monitoring Committee

A committee to monitor the efficient implementation of the mandate of Galaxy backbone Ltd, Nigeria’s ICT operator, has been inaugurated by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami.

It will be recalled that on the assumption of office as the Honourable Minister, Dr Pantami set the following performance targets for Galaxy: to improve the reach and coverage of its service in the public sector; and to significantly improve the quality of service provided.

In his remarks, the Minister reminded the members that the Federal Government has invested massively in Galaxy, stressing that there is a need for the government to reap the benefits of its investment.

The Minister maintained the inauguration was part of the ministries effort to enhance operational visibility, improve efficiency and deliver effective service to Nigerians in line with the blueprint of the National Digital Economy for a Digital Nigeria, stressing that he constituted the committee to ensure an improved quality of service to Nigerians.

Members of the committee include individuals from both the public and private sectors, representative of professional IT bodies, among others.
