Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has found himself in a dispute with car rental company, Klin Deal Resources, over an alleged breach of contract concerning a vehicle hired for travel to his hometown for his father’s funeral, held on June 7th in Okwuzi, Rivers State.
According to Franklin Opara, an agent for Klin Deal Resources, Nwabali hired two Prado SUVs and a G-Wagon for three days through one of his aides, Chimaobi Okeke. These vehicles were to be used to transport them to Port Harcourt. However, Opara claims he was later informed by Nwabali’s team that the destination had changed to Egbema, which he cited as a “hostile area,” leading him to refuse the trip.
Opara stated that the company would only reimburse for two of the three days the G-Wagon was reserved, citing logistical challenges in transporting the vehicles from Port Harcourt to Owerri and the prolonged wait for delivery.
“I’m pleading with Nwabali to accept a refund for two days, and I will bear the remaining loss,” Opara said. “His agent has informed me that Nwabali contacted high-ranking government officials who subsequently had the two Prado SUVs detained by police. As it stands, the vehicles have been held in police custody in Rivers State for over nine days, despite our offer to refund him N1.3 million out of the N1.9 million booked for three days.”
In response, Nwabali has demanded a full refund for the three days, insisting that the service was not rendered as agreed.

“We were being fair enough,” Opara explained. “He asked us to take him to Port Harcourt, but after arriving at his hotel in Owerri and waiting all day, he informed us he wanted to go to Egbema, which the driver refused due to safety concerns. Since then, the vehicle has been at the police station in Okwuzi, and we have offered to refund him N1.3 million.”

However, Okeke provided a differing account, claiming the agent failed to uphold the original agreement, which included the provision of two Prado vehicles with drivers and the G-Wagon to be driven by Nwabali himself for security reasons.

“We specifically asked for two Prados with drivers and for the G-Wagon to be self-driven by Nwabali,” he stated. “They brought the two Prados with drivers but also sent a driver for the G-Wagon, which was against our agreement.”

Okeke further argued that when he expressed his concerns about the breach of contract, Opara initially claimed the company did not issue refunds. The situation escalated, resulting in the retention of the Prados.
